California – April 22, 2026
Financial literacy is more than a conversation; it’s a foundation for long-term success. In celebration of Financial Literacy Month and Green Socks Day (April 30th), The Players Company partnered with Operation HOPE to host Building A Better Financial Future, a sports and business summit focused on empowering athletes and communities through financial education.
Held as part of Operation HOPE’s nationwide Green Socks Day initiative, the event brought together professional athletes, financial coaches, and industry leaders for candid conversations about wealth building, career transitions, and creating opportunities beyond sports.
The summit centered around an important message: planning for your future starts long before your next chapter begins.
The evening featured two powerful panel discussions that explored the realities athletes face both during and after their playing careers.

PANEL 1 : Planning for Tomorrow, TODAY!
The first panel focused on how athletes prepare financially for life after sports while still competing at the highest level. Players spoke openly about balancing the demands of their current careers with long-term planning, sharing personal experiences about navigating finances, identity, and life transitions beyond the game. The discussion highlighted the importance of having trusted financial guidance and developing the skills needed to build stability long after an athletic career ends.

PANEL 2 : Leveraging Your Brand!
The second panel featured women athletes discussing the evolving opportunities available through branding, partnerships, and NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness). Panelists shared insights on building businesses, creating multiple streams of income, and maximizing opportunities that extend beyond competition. The conversation emphasized how today’s athletes are redefining what success looks like using their platforms to create lasting impact both professionally and financially.

A Nationwide Push For Financial Literacy
Every April, Operation HOPE celebrates Green Socks Day a nationwide initiative encouraging people to take action toward financial empowerment by wearing green socks, taking a financial literacy quiz, and sharing their participation online using #GreenSocksDay.
To amplify that mission, The Players Company helped light up Times Square, bringing the message of financial education to one of the world’s biggest stages and reminding millions that wealth building is a skill anyone can learn.
The event was also supported by National Debt Relief, a leading provider of debt settlement solutions that has helped more than one million people work toward financial independence since 2009.
Building The Future Together
From meaningful networking opportunities to honest conversations about money, branding, and long-term success, Building A Better Financial Future reinforced the importance of financial literacy at every stage of life.
As athletes continue to expand their influence beyond sports, events like this create space for education, transparency, and empowerment, helping the next generation build stronger futures both on and off the field.
